Thomas Li, a current senior, was recently honored with the Congressional Service Award by Maxine Walters, the U.S. Representative for California’s 43rd congressional district. This award is extremely special, and bestowment is tremendously selective. Thomas was the first recipient of this award in the 43rd congressional district since 2013! There are 4 requirements that must be completed to earn this award. A potential recipient must complete a certain number of volunteering hours, and strive to be outstanding at a hobby and sport. They must also complete “exposition and exploration.” Thomas Li has spent 4000+ hours volunteering, 1000+ hours playing the clarinet and 1000+ hours swimming. He also planned a camping trip for 3 days and 2 nights. During the duration of his trip, he hiked 20 miles! Thomas Li first applied for this award in his sophomore year. It took him two years to complete it, but it was sure well worth it. Bishop Montgomery would again like to congratulate Thomas Li on his outstanding achievement.
