Ask Julia – Bishop’s Advice Column

I have a crush on this kid and I like him a lot but he has a girlfriend and it hurts seeing them together. I don’t know what to do. Should I move on?

Jealousy is totally normal, and everyone gets jealous at one point in time. Personally, I think it’s okay to have feelings for a person, even if they’re in a relationship. However, the main thing is to not act on your feelings. Don’t try to flirt with him or break the two up since they’re probably happy and that would ruin your relationship with the boy. If you can, try to stay away from him for the time being. If you don’t talk to him every single day, then your feelings for him may fade or grow weaker.

Is it okay to be eating apple sauce at 16?

Um, is that even a question? One of my favorite snacks is Go-Go Squeeze apple sauce. I get it if it feels weird because apple sauce is for babies, right? But seriously, ten out of ten would recommend. It’s really sustaining and you won’t be hungry for a while, as well as being really good. So yes, it is 100 percent ok to be eating apple sauce at any age.

How do you manage school work wisely along with extracurricular activities?

Okay, this is a tough one. I myself am a very busy human being with a lot on my plate and I struggle, too. What works best for me is making a schedule. On Sunday night, on a calendar or Google Doc, write out how much homework and studying you’re planning to do each night for the week. Make sure you include each assignment, project, and test you have and how long you think it will take you. As well, write in the other things you have going on and what times they’re at. That way, you know exactly what you’re going into and what you need to do. Working on a time schedule works and keeps you organized and on top of your work. If you’re using a Google Doc, it eventually turns into an agenda for your life (not just school), which, in all honesty, is really helpful. But if you find something else that works for you, do it!
