Senior Cameron Banks was beginning to see lots of trash on her beautiful Southern California beaches, too much trash. “The trash had gotten out of hand,” she said. Banks was ready for a solution, especially since she attends a high school located barley a mile from the beach, the beach that is practically a second home for many of her Bishop classmates.
Banks established the Beach Protection club her junior year as a way of addressing the problem. Once a month, Banks and her fellow club members head out to the local beaches and clean up trash. “My club is very environmentally friendly,” Banks said.
Banks remembered the moment when she first started the club, she thought no one would want to join. Instead she was pleasantly shocked by how many people were interested. Banks is hoping that even more people will join this year!
